Frequently Asked Questions
Web Design Questions
Back to ServicesHow long does it take?
Designing or developing your website can take as long or short as you'd like. Generally, the more you require from your website, the longer it will take, and the higher your budget will need to be.
Larger, or more functionally complex websites, will naturally take longer to build.
Do I have to do anything?
Just provide the concept and content (text, images, etc.) and we'll do the rest. We can knock up a mock-up of your site (depending on the size of the site - this won't be done for a 3-page site) before you commit to anything. If you would like photographs taken for your site, please check out our photography service. Our logo designs, for websites, mugs, t-shirts, etc. can be found here
What's the first step?
Finding out (then telling us) exactly what you want from your website. This may sound inescapably logical, however actually nailing down the various parts of your online presence, and deciding how to monetize them, may not be as simple as you think.
Without this step being completed in writing, it would be incredibly difficult to deliver what you might be expecting. So, ascertaining your expected deliverables is the first step. The rest of the steps will be outlined at the initial consultation.
How much does it cost?
We have a tiered pricing structure to suit every type of business and budget. For an accurate quote, please contact us.
What does hosting and maintenance mean?
Hosting and Maintenance are the monthly costs of running a website.
Hosting is the cost of running the hardware that provides your website to the world, including security and standards.
Maintenance is the monthly retainer paid to Siteworx.ie, covering updates, alterations, edits and amendments to existing code, and the creation of new and unique code as the need arises.
Do you run Google AdSense campaigns?
Yes. We will get your domain set up to serve Google ads to get you on the road to making money from your website. We will look at your site for fresh ways to monetise it, and suggest to you the best course of action to take to maximise your online revenue streams.
PC Repair Questions
Back to ServicesHow do I know if I have a virus?
If your computer starts acting eratically, slowing down or freezing, your mouse starts jumping around or your documents start to look garbled, or are not where or how you left them you may have a virus (or, as is usually the case, many).
Many virus', however, do no harm to your machine. In fact, many will remove other malware in order to be the primary code on the hit machine. They do not do this altruisticly, with the usualy intent being to forward your personal, private data to the highest bidder. You will usually find out about this type of virus from your bank or online retailer account management service, as your account has been debited for an unusual amount, from an unusul place in an unusual way. That, however, is only if it's flagged. Otherwise, well, you'll probably hear about it in the papers.
What should I bring when leaving in a repair?
Just your power supply if it's a laptop, or any cables/power supply used to attach your device to the computer. Also handy, although not necessary, would be any CD/DVD's related to the problem, for example the disc that came with your printer if it's a printer-related problem. As mentioned, however, these are not essential.
How much does it cost?
We will have a quick look at it and give a ballpark quote for what it would cost to have the machine up and running again.
What about my data? My music and pictures, etc?
If there is a problem with your operating system or hard drive, we will extract your data if possible, back it up and restore it on any medium you would prefer, including your hard drive if it's still usable, or a new one fitted and better than new. For more on our data recovery and backup services, see here.
How do I backup my data?
There are many ways to backup your data, from using Windows built-in backup tool to using dedicated backup tools like Ace Backup, or FBackup. All have their pro's and con's, but all of them at least prevent you losing whatever you have backed up with them to either an external hard drive or remote server.
How do I make sure I don't get a virus?
You need to keep your anti-virus software updated and run it regularly. We will set you up with a free and secure anti-virus system and web-browser package as a matter of course, thereby ensuring your continued safety for the foreseeable future. New threats are always evolving though; drive-by dowloads, rootkits and phishing are all playing their part in making the net a more dangerous place. We can advise you on ways to use the net whilst avoiding many of the potential risks involved.
